CIF INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL
Ferrol, 17th to 28th July 2023
CALL FOR COURSE PROPOSALS

Ferrol Industrial Campus (CIF) is part of the University of A Coruña (Spain) and it is the first specialisation campus accredited by the regional government. Located in the city of Ferrol, an international benchmark in shipbuilding with the most modern shipyards in Europe, Ferrol Industrial Campus is growing in a city marked by its industrial character, which represents an opportunity for collaboration with driving companies in strategic industrial sectors such as the naval, maritime, logistics, industrial, metal-mechanical, textile and automotive sectors, among others.

As part of our internationalisation strategy, we are organising an International Summer School on Smart Industry and Advanced Manufacturing, our key specialisation areas. This ISS has been designed for university students and recent graduates as well as researchers and professors willing to upgrade their skills. Located in Ferrol, all programs are offered in English, with an academic value of 3 ECTS credits and will have a length of one week (either from 17th to 21st July 2023 or from 24th to 28th July 2023).

International professors and researchers are invited to submit course proposals on any of the following fields:

• Industrial Robotics
• Materials
• Optimisation of Industrial Processes
• Naval and Offshore Engineering
• Industrial Management
• Product Development

1. Applicants’ Requirements

ISS lecturers must meet the following requirements:

• A minimum of B2 level of English will be required. The Selection Committee might interview the candidates in order to guarantee an appropriate level of English.
• They must be regularly employed at a foreign institution for the whole duration of their teaching visit to the ISS.
• Support letter from their home institution (Universidad Antonio Nariño) **

2. What CIF offers

Ferrol Industrial Campus will offer the following conditions:

• CIF will pay the visiting teachers for accommodation and meals during the week they are teaching.
• At the end of the course, CIF will issue a certificate to the visiting teacher stating the title of the course and the number of teaching hours.
• Ticket funding might be available with some partner institutions.

3. Submissions

Note: Teachers cannot cancel the course after being preselected. In case of force majeure, teachers must designate a substitute.

4. Selection process

1. As soon as the course proposal is received (form and course outline), CIF will confirm it to the applicant by email.
2. All proposals will be analysed by a committee, which will assess the suitability of the course for potential students, as well as the likely demand among them. The criteria taken into account will be:

- Suitability of the topic for a course
- The coherence of the syllabus
- Evidence of the instructor’s competence
- Creativity
- Intelligence and pedagogical skill

3. Applicants will be informed if their proposals have been preselected by email. CIF will publish the list of preselected courses on its website, and open the student registration period.
4. As soon as the minimum of 5 students are registered on each course and, in any case, by 30th June, visiting teachers will be informed about the final selection.
